About
Hi and welcome to my blog! My name is Debra and I am glad you found me. In 2010, I thought about starting this blog, but I didn’t know where to start. Seven years later I figured it out…well, some of it, but hopefully you won’t be able to tell the parts I am still figuring out, and you will just see small changes to my blog as I learn.
I am what most people call thrifty. I spend money, but wisely. When I hear about a deal, I look into it to see if it meets my needs so I can lower my monthly expenses. When I find a good deal, I like to share it with others. Many years ago, I had some credit card debt and it drove me crazy. Once you get into debt, it can seem like forever to get out of it. Many people on the web talk about paying off large sums of debt quickly, which is great, but not everyone can work 4 jobs and live on Ramen noodles*. There are manageable ways to lower your expenses and eliminate credit card interest rates. Once I paid off my credit card debt, I never went back. You can do it too!
Some people think lowering expenses means they have to do “without” or sacrifice their current standard of living. This isn’t necessarily true. If you could pay less for a service without sacrificing quality, wouldn’t you switch? Why pay more than you have to for something? Lowering your expenses can help in many ways including times of economic strife, but it will also give you freedom to do more with your life even when things are going great. Now, if you want a mansion in Beverly Hills, you are on the wrong blog. However, if you want to learn how to make savvy choices to save money without sacrificing what you have or sacrificing very little, I am here to help. Another thing you should know about me is I use to be a pension actuary and retirement plan manager. During that time, I came across participants that didn’t fully understand the choices they were making. Back then, I was bound by fiduciary responsibility and was limited in how I could help. Now, I will be able to help you understand the retirement plan choices you are making. Some of the topics I plan to cover are
My husband Tom will also pop up every once in a while when he finds some good deals he wants you to know about. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you come back soon! |
